I just used homemade, cut strips from a sheet rescued out of the scrap bin. UHMW Polyethylene, stuff is super easy to plane to the perfect fit and will never move on you like wood. The UHMW is the other key to the sled staying in good shape; it’s extremely tough and also mildly self lubricating. The 1/2” thick UHMW features impressive resistance to denting, gouging, and rusting caused by blunt edge impacts or sliding over obstacles.
